Art journal: fly high

Hi..
Am back from my awesome trip to the North east..
Here's an art journal layout I've made by taking inspiration from the moodboard for Lulupu's third birthday.. I got this paper accents keepsake book from Lulupu.. so I thought I should make a layout on their birthday month :)

image

Steps on how to:

I pasted a page from an old novel to begin with the bg.
Gave a wash of gesso to push it to the bg..
Using mini ink blending tool & foam, I applied pink & flesh tint acrylic colours. .
I've used mini blazonry stencil & gold acrylic colours for some interest in bg followed by modelling paste through Tim Holtz Rays & Prima finnabair stencil..

Some script stamping with Royal Windsor & french rose bg stamps. .

Gave vintage photo DI all around to give more definition. .

Lots of white splashes with watered gesso & white acrylic color..

For the elements,  I drew the clouds in watercolour paper using water colour pencils & Koi waterbrush(am using it for the first time & am loving it) & fussy cut them..

I pasted a very old book page onto scrap cardstock, drew & cut the balloon from it..
Colored with salty ocean DI & applied gel medium over it..
Faux stitches & polka dots drawn with white gel pen..
Tied a string around it & pasted over the bg with foam squares to add dimension. .

The sentiment was drawn & fussy cut out of black cardstock. .
Pasted everything with Aleene's tacky glue..

Done. Hope you liked it.
Do lemme know your comments.  They mean a lot.
Create.  Have fun.

I've taken loads of inspiration from the mood board..
The soft pastel like color scheme attracted me the most... pinks & peaches for the bg..
I've also made my balloon like the ones in the pic.. have used gold too..
I've also drawn my sentiment scripts..
For the number 3
part, I've added 3 clouds & used 3 types of stencils..

Art journal DANCE

Hi
Today I'll be sharing another art journal layout. . My favourite part of crafting so far.. am too excited to fill in more & more pages :)
Here's the project..

image

I began by giving a thin coat of gesso on the page. Then inked up with Salty ocean DI & vintage photo on the edges.. I also went around with black soot DI on the sides..

To add some interest to the bg, I've used French rose bg stamp to do some tone on tone script stamping.. followed by stenciling with Peacock feathers DI through TCW's "flutterby" stencil which is one of my all time favourites. .

Gave a coat of gel medium to seal everything down & also it provides a non porous surface to work on which is easier to correct mistakes. .

Border checkered stamp is from 'We are memory keepers'.. I've filled the gaps with my white gel pen..

Stamped the quote with Tim Holtz 'worn letters' & the smaller lines are handwritten with Brustro fine liner pen (0.1mm)
I've been wanting to get this set (set of 9 from 0.05mm to 0.8mm including a brush pen) for so long & finally it became available in flipkart.!
Though I was seeking for uni-pin pens from uniball, Brustro seems to work fine too.

I sketched the ballerina (referred from net) in a scrap paper first & transferred the fair outline on to watercolor paper using yellow carbon.. this way there is less mess with the lines & also it's possible to use the image any number of times like stamps & even do paper piecing.. I colored the image with scattered straw, spun sugar DI,
Memento rosebud & vintage photo, gathered twigs for the hair, outlined with black pen & fussy cut it.
I took a piece of pink net fabric, made the pleats & stuck one by one with glue gun.
Stuck this on the colored image with Rubber adhesive (fevibond).. it kinda discolorises the surface, so I should remember next time not to use that in see through areas.
To cover that up & add more interest,  I added  a string of pearls in the waistline & the hair bun.
Finally after sticking the image to the bg, I used vintage photo to shade around it.
Gave crackle accents over the dress & shoes to add more dimension.

Done. Hope you enjoyed this.
Do lemme know your comments. They mean a lot.
Thanks for your time.
Create. Have fun.

I've taken both the ballerina & the teal color which is always on my favourite colors list from the pin...

I've inked butterfly wings in the bg.. to emphasise about setting your wings free & do what you like in the way you want without caring too much about what others think of u..

Art journal Happiness

Hi
It's page two of my art journal already & this was special coz it was mostly unplanned & evolved by itself during the process.. If you are a potterhead, then you might find this quite interesting.. Do check out the details at the end ;)

image

I begun the bg by inking with antique linen DI & on the edges with vintage photo DI.
I've used Epiphany script stamp & also swirls from "Love" HOTP stamp sets with second gen stamping (stamping first on a scrap paper then on the layout) using gathered twigs DI.
The corner & edge patterns are stamped with memento tuxedo black ink using Bo Bunny gateway & Penny Black eloquence stampset respectively. .
The lamp post is also from the gateway collection. I stamped it once again on sturdy watercolor paper using memento tuxedo black ink & went over it with black pen. I've used mustard seed, spiced marmalade inks to color the lamp followed by highlights with white gel pen & some more shading with my staedtler fine liner pens..
Fussy cut it & Added glossy accents over the post & crackle accents over the lamp.not so evident in the pic. But I simply love the effect in live.
I cut the number plate separately, added '4' with 3D liner & colored everything with metallic acrylic paints, copper & Gold.. used some black ink to give more definition to the relief area & white ink to highlight..
I stuck the pieces on to the bg using the stamped image as reference.

I've stamped some words of the quote which I wanted to highlight,  using Tim Holtz 'worn letters' stamp, memory box  stencil & everything else was handwritten. ..
Added some white splashes for some more interest..
That completes the layout.

Now for the Potter part, (beware,it's gonna be a lengthy rant:D) am a huuuge fan of the Harry Potter series be it books or movies, irrespective of how older I become :D This is a quote said by Albus Dumbldore in the third movie (prisoner of Azkaban)
"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light"
I've given No.4 to indicate The Dursley residence..
4, Privet Drive, little whinging, Surrey.. as the lamp post also reminds me of the scene where Dumbledore uses the Deluminator..

I didn't have enough space to jot down his full name like I wanted to :(
(Albus Percival Wolfric Brian Dumbledore) So I just went with the initials..

Also I dint use any gloss on the page to keep it as parchment like as possible ;)

Now to say it was totally unplanned, surprises myself.. just shows how crazy I'm about this stuff :D
I guess I'll stop here ;)

Hope you enjoyed this. Do lemme know your comments. They mean a lot.
Thanks for your time.
Create. Have fun.
Let the magic linger on..

Mixed media canvas: tribal scene

Hello,
Today I'll be sharing a "quick & easy" mixed media canvas. .. yes you heard it right..
"Quick & easy" has become my mantra lately & is an optimum solution to accommodate craft when working on a hectic schedule. .

Decoupage is a very easy to do technique & gives stunning results. . Here's one..

image

I started off by applying gesso on my 6"×8" canvas panel board & then applied a coat of orange acrylic color (to match my bg)
I then pasted the tribal scene decoupage napkin on to it with mod podge... I dint care too much about straightening it out as it adds to the texture..
Then I've applied gesso on the edges with palette knife to form the border..

For the dimensional work, I've used M-seal.. after thoroughly mixing equal amounts of resin & hardener, I rolled it into a thin long wire.. cut into small segments & made the design over the border as well as the ornaments, spear & tree branches. . I've used acylic metallic colors to paint the ornaments & spear. .
Finally added some highlights with white gel pen...
image

On the backside, I've used orange paper to stick on & handmade the stand like my project here.

image

Gave a coat of modpoge to seal everything down. This kind of sums up the products used..

Done. Hope you liked it.  Do lemme know your comments.  Thanks for your time.
