Art journal page POST CARD

Hi..
Here's another layout from my art journal...

Supplies list is almost endless.! I don't have a track of them...
Started with a decoupage paper from DCWV for the bg.. Then built up layers using DIs antique linen, scattered straw, wild honey.. [The colors almost washed out when i applied gel medium finally :( ] maybe next time i need to be careful.! Random stamping with postal stamps from itsybitsy, Tim Holtz French artist & little things stamp sets..

The post box is hand drawn using the template i created for this card. Colored with memento lady bug & fired brick DI. Also added some washed out black soot over the shadows to create a old & worn out look.. Envelopes are again drawn & fussy cut.. Hearts from a border punch & colored with red sketch pen.. Worn text stamp set used for the words.. Whole layout covered with Liquitex matte gel medium..Highlights given using uniball signo white gel medium..

Personal note:
I love to write & receive letters.. During school time we used to run a daily newspaper named motto today & also a magazine motto weekly... All handwritten.! We were a very small group with fantasy names & address like
Poonguzhali, kalangarai vilakam (lighthouse in tamil), kodikarai. (Dats me. One of my favorite fictional characters from a great historical tamil novel "ponniyin Selvan")
Florentyna, Hogsmeade, Lapland..
Tinker Bill, The windmill, Transylvania etc..
we also had a post master (Winky ;)) to deliver everything..
When i look back it all seems so funny & i had the best time of my life then :)

That I guess is the longest personal note i've written so far on a blog post :D

Thanks for ur patience & time.! Hope u liked it.. Ur comments mean a lot.. C u soon.
Create. Have fun.

Flower interactive birthday card

Hi
Today i'll be sharing an interactive card i created for my bestie's bday..

The colored tabs can be pulled open this way..

image

it took too much time for me to figure out all the calculations & finally ended up with way lot of imperfections.. I was very much caught up with it that i forgot to take pics in between..
I'll try to explain the process here as best as possible with digital sketches..

Basically i constructed a hexagon with side 2" out of watercolor paper & using it as template cut 2 more out of cardstock..

The hexagon panels are arranged one on top of the other.. The pockets for the tabs are made by sticking hinges on the central panel..

The tabs are 2"×1.2", the semicircles are 2" wide & stuck separately.

I hope this gives some idea about the construction..!
I applied glue on top of the hinges & stuck the panels..

The image is hand drawn & watercolored with distress inks.. Applied wink of stella clear glitter and glossy accents over the topping & the little heart..
I refered the cliparts from picsart app.. They are so cute & adorable..
For the sentiment i thought of using Avery Elle stamps but the size was too big for my card.. So once again i wrote that down with Pilot black fineliner pen..

The tabs are colored with distress inks & the sentiments are from various stamp sets which i found to match the theme.. Stamped with memento tuxedo black ink..

Hope you liked it.. Do lemme kno ur comments about my new experiment :D
C u soon.
Create. Have fun.

Art journal colors

Hi..
It's been so long since i made a crafty post :D Here's another layout from my art journal..

I started with rainbow coloring a Brustro's water color paper with distress paints (seedless preserves, salty ocean, mowed lawn, mustard seed, spiced marmalade) and reinforced with co ordinating distress inks to vary the shades & give more vibrance.. I dint have red distress paint so i used only the ink (fired brick) for that.I also created a dark area with walnut stain distress paint & black soot ink in the same way.

I drew some rough random guidelines on the back of the paper & fussy cut them to pieces.

Now it's time for some ultimate patience :D i stuck the pieces one by one on to my page.. I found fevicryl fabric glue to best suit this coz it's thick & becomes tacky real quick..

I drew a rough outline of the tree with pencil & followed the same to adhere the dark strips..

In the retrospective, i thought i should have left some space on the borders for some darker color.. But then i remembered my film roll washi tape & i think it fit just perfect.

I absolutely love how the colors show through the translucent vellum like surface of the tape as if they are entrapped.

For the quote i used the colors from distress mini ink kit (spun sugar, scattered straw, shaded lilac, evergreen bough) on a nightingale texrured water color paper, wrote the swirly letters with a brown & white gel pen, cut into strips, doodled around with black fineliner pen & stuck everything down.
Quote says "The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most" ~John Ruskin..

Finally i gave a coat of Liquitex matte gel medium to seal everything.

Hope you liked it.
Do lemme kno your comments. They mean a lot to me.
C u soon. Until then,
Create. Have fun.
