Flower interactive birthday card

Hi
Today i'll be sharing an interactive card i created for my bestie's bday..

The colored tabs can be pulled open this way..

image

it took too much time for me to figure out all the calculations & finally ended up with way lot of imperfections.. I was very much caught up with it that i forgot to take pics in between..
I'll try to explain the process here as best as possible with digital sketches..

Basically i constructed a hexagon with side 2" out of watercolor paper & using it as template cut 2 more out of cardstock..

The hexagon panels are arranged one on top of the other.. The pockets for the tabs are made by sticking hinges on the central panel..

image
image

The tabs are 2"×1.2", the semicircles are 2" wide & stuck separately.

image

I hope this gives some idea about the construction..!
I applied glue on top of the hinges & stuck the panels..

The image is hand drawn & watercolored with distress inks.. Applied wink of stella clear glitter and glossy accents over the topping & the little heart..
I refered the cliparts from picsart app.. They are so cute & adorable..
For the sentiment i thought of using Avery Elle stamps but the size was too big for my card.. So once again i wrote that down with Pilot black fineliner pen..

image

The tabs are colored with distress inks & the sentiments are from various stamp sets which i found to match the theme.. Stamped with memento tuxedo black ink..

Hope you liked it.. Do lemme kno ur comments about my new experiment :D
C u soon.
Create. Have fun.

Art journal colors

Hi..
It's been so long since i made a crafty post :D Here's another layout from my art journal..

I started with rainbow coloring a Brustro's water color paper with distress paints (seedless preserves, salty ocean, mowed lawn, mustard seed, spiced marmalade) and reinforced with co ordinating distress inks to vary the shades & give more vibrance.. I dint have red distress paint so i used only the ink (fired brick) for that.I also created a dark area with walnut stain distress paint & black soot ink in the same way.

I drew some rough random guidelines on the back of the paper & fussy cut them to pieces.

Now it's time for some ultimate patience :D i stuck the pieces one by one on to my page.. I found fevicryl fabric glue to best suit this coz it's thick & becomes tacky real quick..

I drew a rough outline of the tree with pencil & followed the same to adhere the dark strips..

In the retrospective, i thought i should have left some space on the borders for some darker color.. But then i remembered my film roll washi tape & i think it fit just perfect.

I absolutely love how the colors show through the translucent vellum like surface of the tape as if they are entrapped.

For the quote i used the colors from distress mini ink kit (spun sugar, scattered straw, shaded lilac, evergreen bough) on a nightingale texrured water color paper, wrote the swirly letters with a brown & white gel pen, cut into strips, doodled around with black fineliner pen & stuck everything down.
Quote says "The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most" ~John Ruskin..

Finally i gave a coat of Liquitex matte gel medium to seal everything.

Hope you liked it.
Do lemme kno your comments. They mean a lot to me.
C u soon. Until then,
Create. Have fun.

Art journal TRAVEL

Hi
It's time to take the next step with my art journalling ;) layouts now in a bigger size notebook 8.5"×11".. Here's page #1.

image

Background:
I begun by two pasting two pages together to get a sturdy wotk surface.. Used Decupage napkin & modpodge to create the base of bg.

image

Gave a wash of gesso over it. Applied distress paint "picked raspberry" with fingers mostly & at places with wet baby wipe.. Added distress inks worn lipstick and fired brick all around the edges.

image

Doodled around the page with Brustro & pilot black fineliners.. Added highlights with Uniball signo white gel pen..

image

Did some random stamping with Kaisercraft bg texture stamp "Triangles" & Tim Holtz "little things" stamp set.. Added white splashes with watered down gesso..

image

Elements:

I drew the girl in a scrap paper first, then carbon transferred to water color paper & colored with distress inks. Then transferred the image to papericious designer paper & paper pieced the dress, shoes and head bow.
Added wink of Stella clear glitter all over. I just love that shimmer.
image

Followed almost the same procedure for the umbrella & added glossy accents & black enamel accents for added dimension :)

image

Quote is stamped with "worn text" by Tim Holtz & memento tuxedo black ink.. Finally added the border with Kaisercraft bg stamp "Morocco".

On a personal note, I love traveling the most & felt it's apt to start my new journal based on it like my mini journal here. am happy to have incorporated my craze for doodling here :D
Hit by a wave of nostalgia as i was doing so.. Dubai is always close to my heart having so many childhood memories there :)
Here are few pics.

There's way too much gender discrimination here that a girl wanting to travel (that too alone) is considered close to being an alien.. Yet i choose not to give up something i love with all my heart & hoping to continue whatever comes :) i feel That is not feminisim but rather standing up for one's self rights & freedom irrespective of being male or female :)

Mixed media tag: summer splash

Hi
Here's a mixed media tag i've created for my guest designer post at The mixed media mojo blog.

I started with Ranger's Manila tag inking with DI squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, spiced marmalade to get an ombre effect.
I splashed some water droplets with hands & wiped of the excess with paper towel to add more texture.

I mixed some mulberry mica flakes by Prima (which was a gift for winning Lulupu's blog hop) with gesso & applied it with palette knife to get a raised rock like effect. I tried to bring about the textured rocks i found in Goa. After drying, i inked up the surface with gathered twigs & vintage photo.

I applied texture paste through TCW's mini tile texture. With Prima bubbles stencil, i drew some circles with yellow & white fine liners & applied glossy accents & white enamel accents over them respectively.. I din't care too much about the precision of the circles as i liked the ragged edges look..
Also applied ink through the same stencil & random script stamping with Kaisercraft bg stamp.
Sentiment is from Heidi swapp collection.
Finally added some white gesso splashes to finish off the bg..

I drew the juice glass, lemon & starfish in plain white cardstock, colored with distress inks and fussy cut leaving a white border all around.. Gave a coat of crackle accents over the glass & i just loveee the effect.
Stuck everything to the base with glue & foam tape..

After adding the eylelet in place, i made a bow out of baker's twine & added a yellow sugar dot at the center to complete the project.

{I planned to make this a pictorial but dint get to take the step by step pics :(}

Hope you liked it.Do lemme kno ur comments. They mean a lot to me.
Thanks for your time.
Create. Have fun.

Spread your wings MMC

Hi

Today I'll be sharing a mixed media card.

image

I started off with my favy watercolor paper (4"×4") & flutterby stencil. I applied
DI peacock feathers, salty ocean, worn lipstick & squeezed lemonade.
image

I put some clear glitter embossing powder when it is still wet & heat set it.

image

Embellishments are handmade.
Also added some color splashes.
Sentiment is handwritten on ledger PP from prima & fussy cut into tiles.
I inked a green satin ribbon with some mowed lawn DI & made the bow..

image

For the frames i've used paper & DI.. I absolutely love the green frame.. I've used Brustro's iridescent paper & inked with mowed lawn & squuezed lemonade mixture.. That sparkle is so cool isn't it?! :)
image

i've stuck everything on to a 5"×5" cardstock panel.. Finally Added some pearls.

Hope you liked it :)
Do lemme kno your comments. They mean a lot to me. Thanks for your time.

Happiness

Hi :)

Here's another mixed media upcycled project. I made this to gift my mom on mother's day.

If u r interested in the steps kindly read on.
The process is sooo long. I've kept it as short as possible :)
•I started with a cardboard packaging box of a clock.

•Covered it with papericious wood texture pattern paper. (Steps done on all 5 sides. Back left undone.)
•Applied texture paste (sakura+camlin mixture) through stencils. ( TCW: Art is, blazonry, chevron. Bricks stencil is home made by drawing on OHP sheet & fussy cutting with craft knife)
•colored the BG with distress inks (peacock feathers, salty ocean, broken China & squeezed lemonade). Made blotches with water to add more texture.
•went on to add colors over the textured area with Pearl & metallic acrylic paints.
•Added gesso splashes all over.
•some BG script stamping with just rite stampers French rose BG stamp &  memento tuxedo black for added interest.
•used vintage photo DI around the edges as well as around the space for my photograph.
•I printed the photograph ( It's a personal favorite pic :)) with laser printer. Inked the edges with VP. For the frame i used border punch & water colour paper & inked with mowed lawn, shabby shutters, peacock feathers & gathered twigs. I also added an acetate front layer for added gloss &  protection.

• for the embellishment part, i used some Puffy floral stickers i got from a local store & colored in the same scheme after giving a coat of gesso. Added some pearls & crystals on the center for bling. Also added a resin embellishment & paper doily.

•The butterflies are stamped, Colored & fussy cut. I especially love this blue one which i made in the same way like here. the flower is made of that same watercolor paper. The two petal layers are hand drawn & Inked up with peacock feathers distress ink. Some random script stamping & fussy cut. I used my scoring tool to get the dimension & i guess it worked fine. I also drew & cut this floral swirl.

•sentiment "happiness" is handwritten (Brustro fine liner pen) on thick water color paper fussy cut leaving a white border around & then glossy accents applied over it & completed the remaining words over the canvas itself.

I've initially given an eyelet opening with golden ribbon loop at the backside for hanging on the wall.

My mom loved it. Hope you liked it as well.
Do lemme know ur comments. Thanks for your time.
Create. Have fun.
