Mixed media tag: summer splash

Hi
Here's a mixed media tag i've created for my guest designer post at The mixed media mojo blog.

I started with Ranger's Manila tag inking with DI squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, spiced marmalade to get an ombre effect.
I splashed some water droplets with hands & wiped of the excess with paper towel to add more texture.

I mixed some mulberry mica flakes by Prima (which was a gift for winning Lulupu's blog hop) with gesso & applied it with palette knife to get a raised rock like effect. I tried to bring about the textured rocks i found in Goa. After drying, i inked up the surface with gathered twigs & vintage photo.

I applied texture paste through TCW's mini tile texture. With Prima bubbles stencil, i drew some circles with yellow & white fine liners & applied glossy accents & white enamel accents over them respectively.. I din't care too much about the precision of the circles as i liked the ragged edges look..
Also applied ink through the same stencil & random script stamping with Kaisercraft bg stamp.
Sentiment is from Heidi swapp collection.
Finally added some white gesso splashes to finish off the bg..

I drew the juice glass, lemon & starfish in plain white cardstock, colored with distress inks and fussy cut leaving a white border all around.. Gave a coat of crackle accents over the glass & i just loveee the effect.
Stuck everything to the base with glue & foam tape..

After adding the eylelet in place, i made a bow out of baker's twine & added a yellow sugar dot at the center to complete the project.

{I planned to make this a pictorial but dint get to take the step by step pics :(}

Hope you liked it.Do lemme kno ur comments. They mean a lot to me.
Thanks for your time.
Create. Have fun.

Hi

Today I'll be sharing a mixed media card.

image

I started off with my favy watercolor paper (4"×4") & flutterby stencil. I applied
DI peacock feathers, salty ocean, worn lipstick & squeezed lemonade.
image

I put some clear glitter embossing powder when it is still wet & heat set it.

Embellishments are handmade.
Also added some color splashes.
Sentiment is handwritten on ledger PP from prima & fussy cut into tiles.
I inked a green satin ribbon with some mowed lawn DI & made the bow..

image

For the frames i've used paper & DI.. I absolutely love the green frame.. I've used Brustro's iridescent paper & inked with mowed lawn & squuezed lemonade mixture.. That sparkle is so cool isn't it?! :)

Happiness

Hi :)

Here's another mixed media upcycled project. I made this to gift my mom on mother's day.

If u r interested in the steps kindly read on.
The process is sooo long. I've kept it as short as possible :)
•I started with a cardboard packaging box of a clock.

•Covered it with papericious wood texture pattern paper. (Steps done on all 5 sides. Back left undone.)
•Applied texture paste (sakura+camlin mixture) through stencils. ( TCW: Art is, blazonry, chevron. Bricks stencil is home made by drawing on OHP sheet & fussy cutting with craft knife)
•colored the BG with distress inks (peacock feathers, salty ocean, broken China & squeezed lemonade). Made blotches with water to add more texture.
•went on to add colors over the textured area with Pearl & metallic acrylic paints.
•Added gesso splashes all over.
•some BG script stamping with just rite stampers French rose BG stamp &  memento tuxedo black for added interest.
•used vintage photo DI around the edges as well as around the space for my photograph.
•I printed the photograph ( It's a personal favorite pic :)) with laser printer. Inked the edges with VP. For the frame i used border punch & water colour paper & inked with mowed lawn, shabby shutters, peacock feathers & gathered twigs. I also added an acetate front layer for added gloss &  protection.

• for the embellishment part, i used some Puffy floral stickers i got from a local store & colored in the same scheme after giving a coat of gesso. Added some pearls & crystals on the center for bling. Also added a resin embellishment & paper doily.

•The butterflies are stamped, Colored & fussy cut. I especially love this blue one which i made in the same way like here. the flower is made of that same watercolor paper. The two petal layers are hand drawn & Inked up with peacock feathers distress ink. Some random script stamping & fussy cut. I used my scoring tool to get the dimension & i guess it worked fine. I also drew & cut this floral swirl.

•sentiment "happiness" is handwritten (Brustro fine liner pen) on thick water color paper fussy cut leaving a white border around & then glossy accents applied over it & completed the remaining words over the canvas itself.

I've initially given an eyelet opening with golden ribbon loop at the backside for hanging on the wall.

My mom loved it. Hope you liked it as well.
Do lemme know ur comments. Thanks for your time.

You are special

Hi
  Here's a watercolor card i made :)

I recently went on a trip to Darjeeling & Gangtok where i visited the flower garden. It was full of orchid flowers in every mesmerizing color combination one could possibpy imagine. Orchids are always in my list of loveables & this experience just increased my affinity towards those beautiful beings :)
This is just an initial experimental version & am hoping to do more of orchid paintings in the future :)
Please excuse this loooonng story of mine ;)

I made a rough sketch on scrap white paper & transferred the fair outline on to the watercolor paper(Brustro's)
I've followed the emboss resist technique to color this one.
I used Zig embossing pen (brush tip) to draw over the outline & heat embossed with Ranger white embossing powder.

Colored the image with spun sugar, memento rosebud, lilac posies, sweet plum for the flower &  shabby shutters, mowed lawn, memento dandelion inks for the stem & leaves using Koi waterbrush. (Yes am addicted to that little tool;))
Distressed the edges with broken china & salty ocean DI.

Stuck the panel onto textured purple cardbase (Fabriano). I've done some random stamping & brush lettering for the sentiment "you are special". Got tonnes to improve in that area..!!!
I've also stamped a birthday greeting inside :)

Done.
Hope you liked it.
Do lemme kno ur comments. Thanks for your time :)

Altered art

Hi
Here's an altered art project i've done :) am using more embellishments for the first time & am absolutely loving the creation process :)

Preps:
Well wanna know how it all started?!

It's from this bottle which always attracted my attention for the interesting shape ;) am happy about recycling plastic this way :)

I coated the bottle with gesso. I've applied pearl green, sap green acrylic colors for the bg with brush followed by some misting with sap green+bronzer mixture..

I also added some vintage photo distress inks on the edges to give that antique look..
I've used black & metallic gold acylic colors for the cap..
I've filled the bottle with pebbles to add weight so that it doesn't fall off. (Original bottle is ultra light)

Embellishments:

I've used PP from time traveller collection & distressed it. Sentiment is from heidi swapp collection.

I've cut the clock image from the same PP collection, stuck it to a round glass cabochon & placed it on the metal frame setting.

Butterflies are stamped using Kaisercraft bg stamp with memento tuxedo black ink on some random scrap PPs from my stash & then fussy cut.

Mulberry roses, bird house & fan metal embellishments are covered with metallic copper, gold & silver acrylics. Same goes for the butterfly resin embellishment in the centre (pearl black too for the shading)

Lace is from Prima i guess. I got it from a kit.

The golden twine is present forever in my stash lol :) Dat kinda completed my project & brought everything together :)

Done. Hope you liked it.
Do lemme know ur comments. They mean a lot to me.
Thanks for your time.

Scenery card

Hi everyone. .
There was a drastic issue with my web hosting site & my website got suspended for sometime..
Though it is resolved temporarily am not sure about the future :(
Am planning to back up the posts in blogger (I find it less user friendly than wordpress:( ).
So all the sadness apart, Here is a bright card for a fresh start :)

image

One of my friends liked this card of mine so much. So I modified it a little bit & also personalised the cycle exactly like his own :)

image

I drew & cut cloud shape from ohp sheet & used it as stencil to make the bg. I've used salty ocean DI.
I also cut out those mounds from green papers (computer paper & handmade paper)
The cycle is a large one from wood veneer transport collection.  Colored with inks as well as pens.added glossy accents over it.
The banner was colored with watercolor pencils. Sentiment written with pen & stencil.
Flowers were stamped, colored & fussy cut.
I've stuck the layers with foam tape to add dimension.
Here's the inside.
